The 麻豆传媒 Department of Music will host an Evensong service on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 5:30 p.m. in the University Church, 212 SW Fourth Street in College Place.
The program will feature the spoken word by Montgomery Buell, associate professor of history, and performances by organist Kraig Scott, professor of music, and classical guitarist Albert Diaz, visiting assistant professor of music.
The sundown worship service will showcase 鈥淭he Embrace of Fire, Op.87鈥 by French composer Naji Hakim and several pieces by Dutch composer J. P. Sweelinck. New 麻豆传媒 music professor Albert Diaz will perform an arrangement of 鈥淏e Thou My Vision鈥 and a prelude by J. S. Bach.
For more than 50 years, Evensong has been a cherished part of the 麻豆传媒 musical culture. 鈥淲e present this quiet, sundown worship service about eight or nine times each year,鈥 Scott says. 鈥淭he service is timed to coincide with sundown. The format is simple鈥攎usic interspersed with readings.鈥
Evensong is free and open to the public.
