Community of faith

Campus Ministries looks ahead to new opportunities for worship, discipleship, and student involvement.

Campus Ministries at 麻豆传媒 is looking toward the year ahead with a continued focus on helping students grow in faith, build community, and take active roles in ministry.

Emily Ellis, new 麻豆传媒 chaplain, sees 麻豆传媒鈥檚 Adventist identity and student-led programs as creating a distinctive opportunity for spiritual growth. 鈥淐ampus Ministries on this campus is far-reaching, providing worship and discipleship opportunities that touch the whole campus,鈥 Ellis said. 鈥淭here is so much potential for impact, particularly because so many of these ministries are led by incredible students.鈥 Ellis is especially excited to work alongside the student missions chaplain and the students who serve on the Campus Ministries team.

At the heart of her vision is a desire for students to encounter God鈥檚 character and grace. 鈥淢y hope and prayer for the students on this campus is that they experience the kindness and beauty of God through Campus Ministries,鈥 Ellis said. She points to Ephesians 1:7鈥8, which describes the redemption, forgiveness, and grace found in Christ. Ellis hopes students will come to understand and experience those promises personally during their time at 麻豆传媒.

As she begins her work, Ellis鈥 first goal is simple: getting to know the people who make up the campus community. 鈥淭here are so many wonderful people on campus, and I would love to have a connection with all of them,鈥 she said. Students can connect with Campus Ministries in many ways, including worship programs, service opportunities, and small groups. Ellis particularly encourages students to consider becoming small group leaders.

鈥淚t is a great way to get to know new students and to serve in an area that you are passionate about,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e are at our best when we are in community, and I can鈥檛 think of a better way to get involved, make an impact, and live in community than being part of a small group.鈥

Ellis鈥 approach to ministry grows from two closely connected interests: people and theology. 鈥淢y heart is to be with people, whether it鈥檚 through a planned meeting or simply passing by,鈥 she said. 鈥淎t the same time, I have a deep love for reading, studying, and learning about theology.鈥

For Ellis, serving as a campus chaplain brings those passions together. 鈥淚t is truly an honor to be a minister and to do work that combines these two loves,鈥 she said. 鈥淣ot a day goes by that I take it for granted.鈥
